Micro-photonics is a growing research that started with

the concept of miniaturizing bulk optical components and integrating them onto one chip. Several developments have been achieved and others to be yet reached in both technology and device levels. Reducing the size of these components to the nano-scale resulted into new phenomena and fundamentally new devices such as photonic-crystals, subwavelength polarization conversion elements and resonant filters. Recently, the area of nano-photonics received a great attention specially for biomedical, telecom and display applications.

The research in my group focuses on the following topics:

  • Optical fiber devices

  • Nano-photonics

  • Optical sensors

  • Numerical modeling of nano-structures

  • Optical wireless communication
